This is a superb antique Edwardian or possibly Victorian circa 1900 9 carat gold Scottish agate pendant. The workmanship is exquisite with pietra dura sections on the base and a fabulous carved Fleur De Lis using different Scottish stones on the top.
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The fabulous stones are green and red speckled bloodstones from the Isle o...f Rum red and grey agates from near Cupar in Fife, pink banded Luthrie agates and grey and white banded agate from Montrose.
The pendant has a very faded 9 ct stamp on the side along with makers SLJ confirming it has considerable age and has been fully tested and is 9 carat gold. The width is 4.0 cm ( one and three fifth inches ).
