EMBROIDERED SILK CHINESE IMPERIAL RANK BADGE / KESI, ROUND, BIRD (SILVER PHEASANT?).
Measuring just over a foot in diameter, this was originally a badge for the front of a robe (made in two pieces) showing a civil service rank in the Imperial court. It's heavily embroidered with metallic thread - silver and gold - and shows a bird against clouds. I think it's probably a "golden pheasant", but in trying to research this I didn't find any exact matches. There's an ink mark on the bac...k, shown in the third photo. I've had this for many years, I think it came out of an estate in Chicago if I'm remembering correctly.
