This 5 gallon Western stoneware water cooler came out of the old Clarksdale country schoolhouse in Iowa. Miss Valentine was the teacher there and my dad bought this water cooler at a garage sale in Lancaster, WI from her relative who owned it 50 years herself. The relative told my dad that Miss Valentine got the call from the owner right before he tore Clarksdale schoolhouse down to "come get anything you want out of the place, I know you used to teach there"" . This water cooler... survived, as Miss Valentine rescued it. It stands 12 3/4 inches tall without the lid and over 14 inches with the lid on . Larger size at 12 3/4 inches in diameter. There is a hairline crack that runs down the one side but not completely to the bottom. See pictures. There is also a tiny bit of flaking on the ceramic surface in two little areas and the lid has a small chip on the inside. See pictures. Over all for its age and rarity, this crock is in excellent condition. Both handles are good and the writing on the front is bright and vibrant. I made a very embarrassing mistake on this posting and I apologize to everybody that was previously watching or bidding on this item. I messed up on the shipping very badly. I realized that it may cost up to $450 to ship this item and that the flat rate I had previously posted was not accurate. I had no choice but to remove the listing and repost it with proper shipping estimates. So sorry and thanks for understanding as I am new to selling on eBay. No excuse but I am trying my best. Buyer to pay actual shipping costs and will be refunded if you pay more than actual shipping costs. I will package it very carefully for free.
