Verynice sword made by N. P. Ames during the 1840s for militia staff officers. The maker stamp is on the back of thescabbard.Hiltsolid and nice with original chain guard and much remaining gilt. Grip has one chip at the top, but not very noticeable.Blademostly original bright with floral and scrolls etching. Some black rust stains visible on one side asseen.Eagleon scabbard surmounts a star and this insignia was used by both Texas and Mississippiso it is possible the ...sword was made for one of those states.Shippingweight 4 pounds.
