1950’s – #27 ATOM CARFRICTION OPEN WHEEL RACER By: YONEZAWATOYS - JAPANBEAUTIFUL EXCELLENT TO NEAR MINT CONDITION Yonezawa Toys made thisbeautiful open wheel race car. This is the green, red, and yellow version withthe #27 on the tail fin. Beautiful all original racer with bright colors andwonderful litho. All parts are there and in great condition. Please review thepictures and look at the bottom of the car. Bottom shows almost no rear.Believe it or not it looks like the... original flint is still working in thefriction drive mechanism. The rubber on the drive wheels may have been replacedbut I am not sure as it looks and feels original to me. I hope you know your Racersas this would be a wonderful addition to the collection or as an investment.Finding a racer with all original parts is almost impossible these days as manytime parts are replaced. Toy marking are #27 in red with black, and white trim/accents.“Atom” is all original and in stamped bright tin on the sides of the car.Original windshield with driver who may have a repainted helmet. Original “Jettype” hood ornament and beautiful chrome looking hubcaps with the word “Sports”in red. Trade Mark “Y” and made in Japan is lithoid on the lower right rear ofthe racer. Original red tinted cellophane is still in the tail section. How many exist inworking condition and with original parts is unknown. On page 203 of the book“The Big Book of Tin Toy Cars” by Ron Smith and William C. Gallagher, it statesthat these toy race cars are 16 inches in length, and three varieties wereproduced marked Atom #27, #8 or #153 and with white or dark helmeted drivers. Frictiondrive and sparking mechanism still work wonderful! I have examined the carand I know it is a beautiful original with all parts. The car has very nice originaltoned color and detail.This is a trulyscarce/rare “Collectible” friction race car from the 1950’s.
