Excellent Original Condition - No Repairs, No Restorations, No Chips, No Breaks, just some general light scuffs and scratches, as you would expect from a piece of this period. - Please note this Chinese gilt-bronze paper weight is of the highest quality with fine casting and balanced sculptural proportions only seen on the best pieces. It was made towards the end of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) and is NOT a modern copy.
In well over 30 years of collecting Asian art I have never seen another 'Bixie' paper weight of this period and high quality, however a very similar 'Tianlu' paper weight (in terms of size, age, style and quality) was sold at Bonhams, Hong Kong on 24th November 2012, Lot 535. I strongly recommend any serious bidders to read the Bonhams detailed explanation of this lot. - eBay do not allow me to link to the Bonhams page, but it you visit their web site and conduct a search for "gilt-bronze 'tianlu' paper weight" you will find it.
This paper weight will grace the finest of Asian art collections. I know the winner of this auction will be absolutely delighted with it. - Good luck!
