Item #18247 - Gebrüder Bing WWI 22”/54 cm Torpedo Boat Circa 1915Gebrüder Bing torpedo boat. 54 cm / 22" (including rudder)circa 1912. Condition very good overall. The hull exhibits no dents, significant scratches or chips. Two-bar railing is present and entirelyundamaged. The prop is missing, and one pair of davits is detached but present.I had initially thought that her torpedo launch tube had been replaced as itappears to be painted wood, but it seems identical to those pictured... in RichardClaus' book, The Allure of Toy Ships. The skylight has become detached from thedeck - someone apparently tried to glue it back in place and there may be someover-painting in this location. Rigging is absent but masts and flags arepresent. Interestingly, she flies both WWI & WWII naval flags – one assumesthe latter is not original to the toy. I have not removed the motor cover orattempted to wind the clockwork (no key) but I can tell you that the propellershaft turns freely. See images for detail.
