Vintage 1942- Zippo Lighter. 4 Barrel, WWII, Black Crackle finish- RARECase & Insert both steel. The insert shell is wrapped counter-clockwise.Use of brass was not permitted during the war.Condition is Used or pre-owned, and still working.Black crackle paint finish was used so it would not reflect light on the battlefield, also nickel was not allowed to be used.This created a rust problem on the inside of the case.Fortunately the rust in this particular case is very minimal.For bei...ng 77 years old, this lighter is still in working condition- and Rare.It has a 14 hole Chimney.There are no markings on the insert.These lighters had bottom stamp variations.The U.S. Government purchased all the Zippo's for men and women at war.
