This is a VERY RARE 16mm KODAK ORIGINALNETWORK print of a KINESCOPE of an episode from the CBS special TV series, “LEONARD BERNSTEIN AND THE NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC”. This episode is called “AJOYFUL NOISE”, and features orchestra and choral arrangements of works byHANDEL, BACH, MESSIAEN, and others, all conducted by BERNSTEIN, who also talksto the audience as well. It seems to be a 1961 CHRISTMAS SHOW, because itconcludes with carols by BENJAMIN BRITTEN, sung by students from the... choir ofSt. Thomas Church in New York City. The show is sponsored by FORD, and there’sa LONG commercial midway that showcases automobiles that include the “new” FordFalcon, Fairlane, and Thunderbird, as well the “new” Mercury Comet, Meteor, & Lincoln Continental.After the end titles, there’s a tag for the U.S. Post Office, as well as a CBSlogo. Print runs a full 30 minutes, and is in top shape, with no major lines orsplices and no vinegar. The sound is especially good. It’s mounted on one full1200 ft. reel. This is the centennial year of LEONARD BERNSTEIN’s birth, soit’s a particularly great collectible.
