Rare Vtg Coro Chatelaine Style Brooch 1940-1950, Pegasus mark, needs repair. As with most of my items I got this out of an estate sale and amazingly enough it was being thoroughly ignored by people.No doubt what they were ignoring is the fact that the largest Jewel on the piece is missing. Anyone who repairs vintage jewelry can tell you right now that's an easy replacement. And there is one small rhinestone on one of the side pieces that is missing and again an easy piece to replaceAs ...this dates between 1943 and 1955 there is wear to the gold plating.That's the bad news the good news is the rhinestones that are set in this are so beautiful I can't believe they're as old as this. They are almost perfect. In the photos they don't show up a deep deep red but most of the time they are they are altered a little bit by the Light around them.All the pearls are in place including the upper bar of the chatelaine the little side bars and the very tiny pearls on the hearts with the fleur-de-lis.The center segment hanging down has a lovely center section that is very ornate both in the front and the back, then a very French cross type link below that with a red rhinestone center then another piece of ornate gold work with a faux Pearl and then a large teardrop rhinestone.You can see in the photographs that this is a Pegasus Coro mark and again you'll note some wear to the gold plating. This is not unusual for pieces this old. What is quite wonderful is how ornately decorated the back of the piece itself is.The clasp is in good shape. As with any type of pin like this I always suggest a safety piece. The hinge works just fine and the pin's stem is nice and sharp and straight.The overall length of the brooch itself is 5 and1/4 inches long and the widest point is about 2 in wide. Of course those pieces swing so you'll get plenty of movement. The pieces on the far end hang down 2 and 3/4 inches long the next pieces down again are 2 and 3/4 inches long and the very center piece itself is for 1/8 inch long.Paypal payment only please and payment within two days of winning bid.This is truly a piece for the collector.
