This is an unusual piece, a collaborative design by two famous silversmiths, Allan Adler and Charles L. Sample. Allan Adler, (1916 - 2002) was known as the "silversmith to the stars" for his celebrity clientele that ranged from Errol Flynn to Michael Jackson. In the early 1940s, he was commissioned to design mini-Oscars for Academy Award winners and crowns for Miss Universe and Miss U.S.A.. He designed silver bowls, candlesticks and goblets for his celebrity clients, t...he President Dwight D. Eisenhower golf trophy and crafted a silver coffee urn to be used at a fund-raising event for Kennedy, flatware for California Gov. Pat Brown and a silver hairbrush for Winston Churchill, and so much more.
Charles (Charlie) L. Sample (1903 - 2003) Renowned 1930s Hollywood silversmith. Charlie went to work for Edward Bohlin in 1925 and was well known as a master engraver for Bohlin. He is listed in Bit and Spur Makers in the Vaquero Tradition by Ned and Jody Martin. In 1948 he opened the Charles Sample Company in Hollywood California where he made buckles, rings, bolo ties, bits and spurs.
This bracelet is incomplete, it is missing the clasp link that would have secured it to the wrist. This piece measures 5 5/8" inches in length and is a heavy piece with a total weight of 42.32 grams.Allan Adler designed and created the 10k gold center piece which bares the monogram along with the custom made 10k gold links that hold the bracelet pieces together.Charlie Sample designed, created and engraved the Sterling Silver links with the 10k gold applied flowers. Charlie was also probably the one who engraved the monogram on the 10k gold center link created by Adler. It is not known who this piece was made for, the monogram reads HLW.Piece is clearly marked by both Makers:
