RARE Cookie Ziemba Character Old Lady Doll Soft Body Artisan Dollhouse Miniature

This old lady is quite a character! And is apparently quite rare!Her head, neck, and upper bust, as well as her lower arms and lower legs are all made of porcelain. Her body and upper arms and legs are simply stuffed fabric. As a result she can neither stand on her own (she comes with a doll stand), nor be posed in any way, but she is something very special nonetheless.Her face is amazingly detailed for a porcelain doll, and has been painted very realistically, with subtle sh...ading and facial features like wrinkles and fabulous mouth and eyes.Underneath her dress is a cloth tag that reads "Cookie Ziemba." Cookie was best known for her paintings and amazing needlework. She painted full-size works as well as miniature paintings, but I did not know that she ever made dolls. Given the maker's tag, my guess is that Cookie bought the porcelain head, arms and legs from the dollmaker (unknown) and painted and dressed the doll herself. Given the realistic and subtle details of the face, the facial painting here is truly a work of art, and since one of Cookie's favorite painting styles was portraits, it would make sense that she would paint this face with such skill. (It is possible, but unknowable, that Cookie cast the doll herself).Sadly Cookie passed away in January 2019.This marvelous old lady is dressed in a pale green cotton print dress with an ivory apron and a lace ruffled collar. Her black shoes are painted on.This is a special and rare doll, made by a special and rare miniature artisan.
