"Toad of Toad Hall" is a play written by A. A. Milne, the first of several dramatisations of Kenneth Grahame's 1908 novel The Wind in the Willows, with incidental music by Harold Fraser-Simson. Milne extracted the adventures of Mr. Toad, which make up about half of the original book, becau...se they lent themselves most easily to being staged. The play has four main characters: Rat, Badger, Mole, and Toad. Toad's caravan and car adventures are included, as well as his imprisonment, escape, and subsequent fight with the weasels and stoats to regain Toad Hall with the help of his friends.
This first edition copy of Milne's work is quite scarce. The book itself is in very good condition. Clean bright pages bereft of inscription, firm binding, tight square boards, etc. Heavy spotting to top edge, mild spotting to rest of text block. The dust jacket, unclipped & protected by a mylar sleeve, is in good+ condition. Two large tears to front cover have been repaired on inside with clear tape, 3" and 2" respectively. Tear to top of spine. Despite this, the jacket remains clean, vibrant, and attractive.
