Released by First National Pictures in 1931, HER MAJESTY, LOVE was directed by William Deiterie and stars Marilyn Miller, W.C. Fields, Ben Lyon, Leon Errol, Ford Sterling, Chester Conklin and Clarence Wilson.
Fred von We...llingen (Ben Lyon) falls in love with the common bar maid Lia Toerrek (Marilyn Miller) much to the disapproval of Fred's wealthy family. At the Wellingen's dinner party to announce the engagement, Lia's father, Bela Toerrek (W.C. Fields) has too many cognacs and then demonstrates his vaudeville juggling act. Fred's family promises him a healthy promotion in the family business if he dumps Lia, which he does. Regretting his decision, he tries to get Lia back but her father has convinced her to marry the wealthy Baron von Schwarzdorf (Leon Errol) a man at least twice her age. Fred must hurry back from Venice to stop their wedding.
This is an impossible title to find in 16mm on Ebay. Fields steals the show from the star Marilyn Miller and this would be her final film. Fields does some great juggling in this movie and has a German accent that mysteriously disappears as the film progresses. It co-stars some of Fields' favorite character actors, Chester Conklin and Leon Errol. Co-star Ben Lyon would retire from acting and years later become a talent agent, representing a blonde who reminded him of Marilyn Miller. He pursuaded her to change her first name to Marilyn-- Monroe.
Because this is a rare, but clearly a dupe print, I will begin with low opening bid. PLEASE BID ACCORDINGLY. Good luck!
