Rare Coro 'Lyre' in Vermeil over Sterling*Des Pat (*Design Patent) 147183 to Adolph Katz 22/7/1947(very scarce design - see 4 stars given out of 5 in Brunialti's book)
This is such a superb and exquisitely designed 'very scarce' vintage brooch, of a good weight, and great quality, from 1947, signed: CORO Craft Sterling..(w/Pegasus logo). Manufactured and cast in sterling silver with a vermeil gold coating in the style of a 'Lyre'/Harp', and featuring lovely round and baguette rhinestones around the 'shoulders' and top of the brooch which are also set around the beautifully curled ends of the lower area, finished with slightly larger 'stones and pave-set small rhinestones..three tiny 'siam ruby' rhinestones are bezel set at the bottom ends of the 'Lyre' strings' with a sweet navette at the very bottom and another further up the middle section within a gold-tone circlet...a larger sized oval 'siam ruby' sits above of the 'strings..there is gentle wear to the gold-tone, but for its great age of 70 years, its doing marvellously well !...all 'stones' are present, intact, bezel, pave and prong-set....such an amazing design in that wonderful Coro quality..and it is in excellent vintage condition.
