SET OF NINE HUDSON BAY CALENDARS FROM THE 1930'S & 40'sSOME QUITE RARE Genuine Canadiana Memorabilia and HistoryFor over 50 years (1914-1970) the Hudsons Bay Trading Company issued calendars depicting early, northern life in mostly Western Canada. All were fronted with paintings from some of Canada's most famous and honoured artists, whose works sell in the thousands today. A few of tem are referenced on website archives, but no images exist. These have be...en in the family since acquired from the Hudsons Bay. My Grandfather was with the R.C.M.P and stationed mostly in Northern Canada, were he obtained them1) 1934 - Arrival of John Baptise - Artist - Adam Sherriff Scot - No pad. Worn edges on left. 1 tear & 1 hole on right edge. No major creases/stains.2) 1935 - Trading into Hudson Bay, Cape Wolstenholm - Artist - Adam Sherriff Scott. No pad. Very minor wear on edges. Very light creases from being rolled. All in all very good condition3) 1936 - The Council of the Northern Department - Artist - Charles F. Comfort - Last page of pad attached. Overall excellent condition - 1 half inch tear on right hand side.*** While doing my research I could find no actual picture of this one. That was from both the Hudsons Bay archives as well as the Glenbow Museum. Only the title and the Artist. This leads me to believe this particular one is rare.4) 1937 - Battle of the Bay 1697 - Artist - Norman Wilkinson. Last page of pad attached. Stain on lower left bottom. Again due to age and improper storage light creasing from being rolled.5) 1938 - Parting of the Brigades, Athabasca 1826 - Artist - Walter J Phillips - No pad. Very good shape with 2 minor rips on left side one near top and one bottom. Light pencil writing on lower left.6) 1939 - Pictorial Map of Canada - Artist Stanley Turner - Worst of all as far as condition. Heavy Wear on both sides. Again I could find no image of this, only the fact it exists. As a result, I'm not sure it was issued as a calendar. There is no evidence that there ever was a pad of any sort.7) 1940 - Shiptime at Pangnirtung - Artist - Lorne Squire - No pad. Wear onleft and right edges. One 1 inch tear and one 1/2 tear on left side.8) 1941 McLoughlin Welcomes the Americans, Fort Vancouver 1834 - Artist - Chaz F. Comfort. No pad. Right edge has two 1/4 tears. Metal hanger detached on bottom right hand side.9) 1942 Barnston and Ballantyne at Tadoussac - Artist - Charles Fraser Comfort - No pad. No major flaws. Light creases from being rolled.Updated Going through more things I found the following artwork only:1918 - First public Sale of Furs - Artist - Edward North1919 - Indians Visiting Fort Charles - Artist - Unknown - I am taking a very educated guess on this as again there is no image for this known. The title fits the picture and there is no artist signature on the print.Would prefer to keep these together as a collection. They will be shipped rolled and in a tube as they have been for years. If you would prefer them to be shipped flat, as artwork should be, there will be additional charges for the extra 'volume'.Shipping is listed for Canada and U.S. Outside North America, please contact me for shipping charges
