Recent Northern Virginia estate find. We purchased many military items from the estate of US Air Force Pilot Major Allen W. Ripley, III. Major Ripley began his military career towards the end of WWII in the Army Air Forces and continued through the Korean and the Vietnam Wars in the US Air Force. We will be listing many items from this estate from all the wars including flight suits, flight bags, pilot helmets, and other items.
A wonderful piece of history.&nb...sp; This helmet would be early Vietnam era. Shows obvious wear as this was a used piece of equipment from Major Ripley's collection. A fair amount of the thin interior leather lining is missing, the face shield does have a crack with a small corner missing (see last photo), but operates as intended, there is one screw missing on the the shield bracket (not an issue as the other two are secure and the missing one should be easily replaceable) and there are several scratches on the helmet. Regardless, still a battle tested item from a named Pilot's estate. Some accessories have been removed or are not included like the side microphone and oxygen mask; however, we do have these and will sell separately. We have multiple helmets and oxygen mask and are not sure which goes with each helmet, Plus these accessories were not attached to either helmet when we purchased the from the estate, so we are listing separately.
