1953 Korean War Photo Album - Major General Frank H. Partridge Grouping
Major General Frank H. Partridge - In 1917 was appointed a 2nd Lieutenant of Infantry. He served two tours of duty in the Philippines in betwee...n WWI & WWII. During WWII he was promoted to Colonel and became the commanding officer of the 355th Infantry Regiment, 89th Infantry Division at Camp Carson, Colorado. In December of 1942 he was named the Assistant Division Commander of the 97th Infantry Division, Camp Swift, Texas, and subsequently promoted to Brigadier General. He accompanied the 97th Division to the European Theater of Operations in January of 1945 and at the end of the war in Europe moved with the Division to Japan as part of the occupation forces. While in Japan he reverted to his permanent rank of Colonel. In 1950 he was reappointed to the rank of Brigadier General and commanded Camp Roberts, California. Upon reactivation of the 7th Armored Division he assumed command of the Division and was promoted to Major General in 1952.
The grouping consists of:
A large 13" x 13" identified photo album to Major General Frank H. Partridge - The album is in good / fair condition overall. The front cover is no longer attached to the rest of the album and the majority of the photos are no longer affixed to the pages. The backs of each photo is numbered and matches with a matching number where the photo was once mounted. The photos are all approx. 5" x 7" and are in very good condition, each with some light wear and fading. There are a total of 111 qty 5x7 photos and one smaller 3x5 photo. The photos show a variety of items: Korean Soldiers, Prisoners ?, U.S. Troops, Artillery, Aircraft, Sunken Ships, Villagers and much more.
55 qty 8x10 Glossy Photos from a larger collection of items from Major General Frank H. Partridge. Many are unmarked and appear to be from the early 1950's. Some are marked on the back, but the majority are not. Photos are of Partridge in Korea, California, 7th Armored Division and more.
19.5" x 14.25" Certificate of Appreciation signed by the Mayor of Seoul Korea, Tai Sun Kim, dated 5 April 1953, awarded to Major General Frank Partridge, Deputy Commander Sixth Army .
Large / Oversized Birthday Card from 1952 "Happy Birthday Boss" to Partridge.
