This auction is for an early Lenci boudoir lady with the dreamy wistful face mold designed by the famous artist Marcello Dudovich, who created many of the hauntingly beautiful Lenci ladies and... Pierrots. She is a Lenci masterpiece in every way.
This large boudoir lady is 28 inches tall. She exhibits all of Lenci's trademark design elements: a hard-stuffed all-felt torso with molded breast and cinched waist, delicately painted face with side-glancing eyes with single-stroke brows and lush feathered eyelashes, two-tone lips, zigzag stitching at the back of her neck, disc-jointed arms with hands with two middle fingers joined together, right arm bent at the elbow while left arm is straight, floppy legs tab-joined at the hips and knees for easy life-like posing, arched feet for high heels, and a lush auburn mohair wig with sausage curls. She wears an elaborate, elegant full-length pink organdy gown with deep a triple-ruffled hemline. The sleeveless bodice has a stand-up ruffled neckline which frames the seven tiny 1/8" black felt-covered buttons down the front. The skirt has a voluminous three-quarter peplum, also edged in ruffles, and accented with five large black felt abstract fan-like applicques on the sides and back. To complete the festive attire, she wears fingerless elbow-length white lace gloves. There is an attached underskirt, her original onesie, ruffled knee-length pantaloons, a separate white ruffled organdy petticoat, and a covered wooden hoop skirt to add fullness. She wears thigh-high silk mesh stockings and her original leather-soled blue felt high heels. Condition: This lady will instantly become the "Belle of the Ball" in any Lenci or other boudoir doll collection. Her felt body is free of any stains or moth damage. Her gorgeous Dudovich-designed face is hand-painted, all original and unrestored. Only her lips may have been touched up because they are not two-tone but a deep lush red.The organdy gown appears to have been washed and may have shrunk a bit and need a small insert in back to allow complete closure. It needs a careful and delicate ironing to show off its entire beauty. Some of the black appliques may need tacking down. Her hoop skirt is slightly age-discolored and her stockings are torn in several places.Important Note: Both feet appear to have been broken at the ankles and need to be repaired. This can be concealed by long stockings, as they were when I received her. Here is your chance to add a very early Lenci boudoir lady dressed in a gorgeous seldom-found gown to your collection. Don't let her get away! Please check my other auctions this week for more wonderful early Lenci dolls!
Good luck and happy bidding!
