this is an early En...glish printing of Sir Thomas More’s “Utopia” along with a memoir of the author by Ferdinando Warner
Utopia being the authors famous fictional work of a Utopian Society on the Island of Utopia
the book is bound in a later, though not recent full leather binding, internally fitted with marbled endpapers, 8 inches tall, internally the book has a 14 page dedication, then the life of the author runs to 156 pages, followed by a two sided advert leaf, then “Utopia” which runs to 230 pages
CONDITON
the leather binding has some noticeable scuffs and scrapes, with general edge rubbing wear, small chip to head of spine, a few marks, else binding is in good solid condition, internally foxing to endpapers,
online records show some copies, but not all, have a frontispiece portrait, this is one of the copies without that plate, some grubbiness and general handling marks to opening pages, the title page and following dedication page both have corner repairs to the lower blank page corners, old ownership name to top of title page, some occasional handling marks within, one ink mark (pictured) else nothing to serious, contents in good general condition
