I have here for sale the superbly illustrated complete set of all twenty parts of THE BIRDS OF THE BRITISH ISLANDS, by Charles Stonham with illustrations by Lilian Medland. Published by Grant Richards from 1906 through to 1911. The set contains 317 plates, each one with captioned tissue guard, and in perfect condition with no staining or marks. The part work was issued in twenty parts over five years, and is presented here in its original Edwardian covers. There should be 318 plates bu...t 167 is missing where a swan enthusiast has removed the plate!The series is very large and was intended to be bound up as five volumes, and the title pages for each volume appear in the relevant parts. The XXth part contains the List of Subscribers, and the Red and Black title page for Volume V.Grey green thick card covers with black lettering to the front and spine. In very good condition inside and out. 32 cm x 26 cm.Postage will be by Air Mail outside of UK. If you buy more than one item then the postage cost falls for the second and further items as I will put them into one parcel - so you save money. We wrap and post the parcels on Monday and Tuesday - therefore if you pay before midday on Tuesday we will get it in the postal sacks on Tuesday night, and if it is after that time then it will go into the postal service on the following Monday.
