Also included in the auction is a small collection of related ephemera, including a striking Buffalo Bill cabinet card, measuring 6 x 4.25-inches, that I suspect is a forgery, but I truly can't tell (see hi-def scan); an original 3.5 x 2.5-inch photograph of trick rider, Arthur Sargent (I don't know if he performed in Buffalo Bill's show); and a 16 x 36-inch poster of a 19th century photograph of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, including Geronimo, Annie Oakley, and all the classic Buffalo Bill stars. The poster is on regular 20-lb bond, so has light creases from being rolled. It is very clean and should frame nicely. The book has been tightly rebound with red book cloth replacing the spine and the original leather material applied atop for a very nice job. Well-worn boards (please see pics.) Original decorative endpapers have been preserved. Moderate foxing throughout. Several pages bear the stamp of J.S. Polhemis, the U.S. engineer in charge of Yaquinta Bay, Oregon. Some Googled info about him is included. Binding is very tight and square. Very clean, bright, and crisp text and illustrations. Measures approximately 8.75 x 6.25-inches. 766 pages.Though I usually often easy returns, as I am unsure about the origin of the cabinet card, there are no returns with this auction. This wonderful collection of Western Americana will keep you from howling at the moon on those long, coyote-wild Western nights (real or imagined, ) or make a marvelous gift.** Have you seen all the amazing first and rare editions of iconic books we offer?
