A single coloured plate captioned ‘Pileated Parrakeet’. Colour woodblock printed with some hand finishing, 1887. Overall size (245 x 166 mm). Drawn by Alexander Francis Lydon and Printed by Benjamin Fawcett. A small area of light staining to top and bottom blank margins, otherwise In very good clean bright condition with lovely colouring and detail.
This colour plate was Issued with the 3 vo...lume set of ‘Parrots in Captivity’ by William Thomas Greene. Published by George Bell & Sons, London, 1884-1887 in three volumes. One of the most comprehensive colour plate studies of parrots.(Ref: Fine Bird Books 1990, p103).
