This Samsung-branded Chicony E8H5IKKB-5161 mechanical keyboard is in great condition and works well. The key action is smooth and satisfying, and no keys are gummy or sticky. Some of the keys have some sticker residue on top that can probably be removed with a bit of scrubbing. I pulled it apart and cleaned out all the dust bunnies but didn’t see the need to do a major service, as it was in such decent shape already.
Note that I had to repair the cable in two places (one... internal, one external), but did a proper job - soldered with heat shrink, and I retained the original ferric shield and strain relief. The original AT connector was damaged so I fitted a PS/2 one. Please refer to the photos to see where the repairs were done.
This keyboard can be used on any retro or modern PC with a PS/2 port, or with a simple pin-adapter (NOT included) to convert it to an AT-style 5-pin DIN. It can also be used on a modern USB PC with an ACTIVE signal converter (NOT included), as shown in the last photo.
There is an XT/AT switch on the bottom but I was only able to test in AT mode as I don’t have an XT. (AT is the more modern standard useable the vast majority of systems.) It’s a great substitute for an IBM Model M & would pair well with an IBM PC (5150), XT (5160), or later.
As this is a 30+ year old keyboard, it is being sold in AS-IS condition. Please see ALL the photos and ensure you’re satisfied with the condition BEFORE you bid.
NOTE: ONLY the keyboard itself is included in this auction! Any other items in the photos are for reference only.
I charge actual shipping cost with insurance & tracking. I have packed this item EXTREMELY ROBUSTLY, in a solid thick-walled box with extra crush protection, tightly surrounded by industrial-style bubble wrap & packing foam. I do NOT waste your time & money with shoddy packaging that results in broken merch! Bid with confidence!
