Rare Antique Stanley No. 62 Low Angle Block Plane, Adjustable Throat 1905-1942 . ***This plane has lived in my professional wood shop for years as a display plane only. I purchased the plane 9 years ago from a collector in California. We are allowing the public to add this plane to their Stanley Antique collection. This model Stanley plane was designed for heavy work across the grain. The iron has plenty of life yet and is not used up. The mouth... of the plane is not chipped as is common with many of these planes. The sole of the plane has normal wear marks for its age and no pitting. Plane has original paint and does not show signs of having been re-furbished or re-painted. The No 62 end of the plane does exhibit minor paint blistering and chips at the end of the sole. The iron of the plane does show signs of a wire brush being used to brighten the Stanley Sweetheart logo and New Britain, Conn USA marks. (See attached pics) We have not used this plane in the shop and is in the same condition as when we purchased it in 2010. This is a great survivor and a plane that many carpenters did not have in their toolbox as it was somewhat of a novelty tool and did not catch on. Modern versions of this plane made by Stanley go for 179.99 to 209.99 new and the Lie-Nielsen goes for 249.99. This rare piece of woodworking heritage is a must have for the serious collector.
