THE HOLY BIBLE (Geneva Version)Containing Old Testament & Apocrypha & New Testament with end tables.N.B. LACKS TITLE PAGES (Dated reliably from title pages of end tables.)Also missing a prelim as well as last couple of Second Tabl...e leaves.
STUNNING c14th century latin manuscript inlaid to inner covers.Bible text is Roman print text, very good and legible.Leaves generally very clean and very crisp considering this work is 411 years old !!!Well below average toning. with a little general thumbing to lower corners.Small lower loss to first two extant leaves as seen. Handful of quite minor closed tears here and there.
The text block is generally good and well shaped with good, clean edges.Early manuscript to ffep (contemporary to print date.)
BINDING is a full contemporary tan calf with original metalwork to all corners and clasp fixings.Binding surfaces refurbished retaining minor surface losses.New leather spine with handsome gilt to compartments and raised bangs.Ornate gilded red title label.
A RATHER HANDSOME COPY to be enjoyed daily or to be kept as a museum piece !!!
