I'm not an expert in the use of the machine or the OS but will try and run whatever you can tell me how to run in order to verify the performance or check the software as long as it doesn't involve opening the machine or using anything other than the installed software.
It... was used to power 3D graphics for interactive training. It hasn't been used other than the occasional demonstration boot-up for about 15 years. It has some scuff marks on the case and routine wear and tear from use and being moved but nothing major. You may have a more discerning or critical eye but I don't find any of its flaws noticeable more than a couple of feet away.
IRIX is loaded though I don't have any disks or manuals. You probably already know you can find the IRIX OS updates and many SGI applications as free downloads with a little searching.
Also, I don't have any of the original hardware which came with the computer other than the power cord. Any PS2 keyboard and mouse will work fine with the Octane but are not included. It does require a special cable to convert the video output to VGA which I will include. Most monitors will display the output without issue, and every relatively modern monitor should be fine, but there is a small chance your monitor may require that you use a different cable.
If you are looking at this because you need a now rare working model, you've found one - with one of the most powerful configurations.
If you are looking at this as a vintage computer collector then you've found what will likely be the most impressive workstation in your collection.
As stated above this is a vintage computer. I can't warranty it in any way nor can I say with absolute certainty that the fact it works when I ship it means it will work when you receive it. It has been moved multiple times with no issues, and is built like a safe, so my expectation is that it will work for you as the buyer exactly as it did for me before I shipped it.
I'll have it packaged by an experienced shipper and have it tracked and insured. Purchasing the computer will be considered acknowledgement and acceptance that once the box is sealed, labelled, and left with the shipper I am no longer responsible for the condition or performance of the computer. Any claims from that point forward are between the buyer and shipping company.
I will take photos and video of it running before I take it to be shipped and if it doesn't arrive in the same condition I'll provide them to you as the buyer. Only the recipient can make a claim, but you'll have that visual evidence to support any claim in the unlikely event any damage occurs.
I'd LOVE to do local pick-up, both to save you the shipping charges and so you or your representative can see it working in person.
I won't take a return on the computer.
