VOLUME 1 of 2 ONLY First edition of the Roman Catholic version of the Old Testament in English. Printed twenty-seven years after its companion volume, the Rheims New Testament, the Old Testament had been translated at the same time by Gregory Martin and others with the help of Cardinal Allen, but not printed owing to lack of funds. This volume is incomplete as it should run through page 1115 instead of ending at 912. It is also missing three leaves that make up pages 889-904. CONTENTS: Incomplete after page 912, but Complete up until then including title page, and all preliminary leaves. Also complete from Genesis through Ppppp4b, and then from Sssss1a through Sssss4b. Internal pages are in nice condition overall but beginning leaves have folding of page corners on bottom edge and some tearing on top right edges. Title page has loss on upper ¼ that affects title and on the bottom corner and edge that also affects text. Some small worming in places that are too small to show up in the photos well.
