A ROLLEIFLEX 2.8F + 80MM F2.8 PLANAR (1960) REMOVABLE HOOD. STUNNING CONDITION. HARDLY EVER USED.A superb Rolleiflex 2.8F (1960) with 80mm f2.8 Planar. This may be one of the finest examples you will find unless you buy a MINT version. This one is near mint, but not quite mint and a wonderful looking camera. The photos don't do it full justice!Cosmetically superb, no scratches or nasty marks. Only slight traces of being in the case for years. All black paint is excellent. Those ...who know these TLRs well, will be aware of paint impressions if left in the case for years. These are minor and best NOT to try to polish them away. These surfaces were not designed to be shiny. All Leatherette is in fine condition with no damage, splits or tears. A few dimples exist on the sides...3 one side, 3 the other. Barley significant. SHUTTER SPEEDS: They all work, the four slowest speeds were rarely, if ever used, so whilst they work, the 1/8th, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 sec are a fraction lazy, mainly the half and one second. 1/15th is good. The Self Timer works perfectly. The Light Meter works without issue and also in fine condition with perfect needle deflection and accurate readings. The little diffuser/Incident light clip comes with it. The focusing is perfect with no play in the Rack. All dials work flawlessly. Focus screen is clear with a few specks. Screen specks will mostly come off with a blower brush. DO NOT WIPE THE MATTE SIDE OF THE SCREEN. Also, avoid touching the Mirror!!The optics are superb and clean. Best glass i've seen in years as most have cleaning marks. There are no cleaning marks on this 'soft' composition glass, there are no scratches, haze or Fungus. Those who wish to study the glass under powerful lights and Microscopes can move on and look elsewhere. The occasional fragment may be visible on the outer rim of the back element and no attempt should be made to edge a cloth around the rim, just in case the 'specks' create cleaning marks on the back element, of which there are currently none. The camera has very clearly, hardly ever been used since new, perhaps a dozen films in its life, as the inside of the camera is wonderfully clean and rust specks don't exist. The original case and cap is included. The case also has perfect stitching, never polished, and the strap looks very clean, another pointer to it's lack of use. However, I never trust an old leather strap however good it looks as it is almost sixty years old (still younger than the seller!). There you have it, a superb Rolleiflex 2.8F from 1960, very worthy of a GOOD home and a responsible owner or Rollei Collector. It really DOES look better in the metal than the photos! There is NO Buy it Now price on this item, even if there are bids or not. The auction will run for FIVE DAYS, so if you want a really good 2.8F, dig deep and don't let it get away! The slow speeds are not vital to its use in the field or studio. It will be the decision if the new owner whether or not to have the speeds calibrated or not.
