Please be sure to review all my other auctions after you have looked at this one! I will be listing a broad and diverse range of vintage communications and technology items, related books, periodicals and ephemera... Something for everyone!Often cited as the best receiver of the 1920's, here you have the opportunity to own the magnificent Federal Type 61 receiver, flagship of the Federal Telephone & Telegraph Company. This particular one was built in January 1924 and is in... excellent shape!Cabinet and panel look great. I have done nothing to the set other than clean off the dirt for photography... The panel has no chips, cracks or abrasions. Engravings are all legible and with original factory fill. The cabinet is very nice with no real imperfections. There are some of the normal signs of wear for an item 95+ years old limited mostly to the top but they do not detract from the majestic presence of this radio!! Internally, everything is as the day this set left the factory. All components are crisp and original, decals and markings are complete and clear. There is even an original factory shipping brace that was never removed upon receipt! It is even marked "to be removed" after shipping but still remains today! The support rope for the tube deck is original. It has stretched over time and can be tightened up if desired by the new owner. The instruction placard attached to the underside of the lid is like new. The original tags are present. There is even a receipt from Montgomery Ward & Co. for the last time replacement tubes were purchased for this set. All tubes have good filaments! Also included is the original Federal No. 53-W Headset with an attached Federal 15 Universal Plug for use with the phones jack on the front panel!I have tried to take good photographs and they represent the condition quite well. If you have any questions, please ask! If you are looking for a good Federal 61 for your collection, this is it! You can put it right on the shelf, give it your personal tlc or hook it up to a long wire antenna and power supply to tune in the broadcast world...up to you! Shipping weight will be about 45 pounds... I will pack all items properly and with great care. I have been shipping these kind of vintage items worldwide since the late 1980's.
