This is a important and monumental Chinese antique "Fenghuang - Phoenix Bird" umbrella or weapon stand. This came out of the estate of a woman in her mid 80s. Who claimed that this had belonged to her grandmother. She believed that her grandmother had purchased this at a antique shop many years ago. The family had always believed that this was a ancient Chinese weapon stand, and was a family heirloom. This is very heavy and tall, measuring over 2 foot. It is made of very thick solid celad...on porcelain. Which leads me to believe that this held heaver objects other than umbrella's.
Looking at the inside and bottom you can see that this was created in a ancient way. Possibly sand cast. This is decorated with two large Fenghuang or Phoenix birds, each facing each other. This is even more beautiful to see in person, and is a important Chinese work of art.
