Exquisite antiqueChinese hand painted Docai (斗彩) porcelain footed bowl.Circa late 1800s.The beautiful bowl has under the glaze blue and red motif on theinside. The centre medallion is painted with several pomegranates surrounded bya band of traditional design.The outside of the bowl is painted with a vivid dragon and a phoenix.They are surrounded by stylized clouds.The raised foot is painted with scroll work on the outside. Theinside is hand written reign mark of Ming Dynasty Yongl...e era 1402-1424 (永乐年制).The bowl was made in the 1800s. It was not unusual to haveporcelain ware dated earlier than they actually were.Great antique porcelain signs everywhere. The cobalt blue paintingon the outside of the bowl are especially beautiful. Patches of blue under theglaze are darker than others. A good sign of Qing porcelain.Sand from firing process from the kiln on the rim of the base.Docai 斗彩 is a termreferred to under the glaze blue and red decoration. Most porcelain ware haveunder the glaze blue with red added outside the glaze.The term Docai literally means ‘competing colour’. A fairlysought-after type of glaze.Excellent condition.
