Pair of Arts and Crafts Era Candlesticks by Heintz Art Metal Shop featuring Sterling Silver Overlay A pair of Arts and Crafts era Heintz Art Metal candlesticks in bronze with sterling silver overlay in an elegant floral pattern. The candlesticks exemplify the highly collectible "metal art ware" designs produced at the Heintz Art Metal Shop during the early part of the 20th century. Otto Heintz purchased his company in Buffalo in 1902; the name was changed to ...Heintz Art Metal Shop in 1906, when the company began creating bronze vessels with sterling ornamentation. The patent date on the bottom of the items -- “PNT. AUG 27 12 -- refers to the special patent granted to the Heintz firm for this form of ornamentation. The pieces made under this patent were only made for a relatively brief period of time. The candlesticks are in excellent condition with no dents or nicks or blemishes that we can discern. They have likely been used but the patina and color are in fine condition. The marks on the underside of each candlestick are identical. They include: the Heintz logo (a diamond enclosing the letters HAMS); STERLING ON BRONZE; the patent mark noted above; and, above the logo, the numbers: 3108.
