Here is a nice pair of restored Acoustic Research AR-5 3 way speakers. Both tone controls in each speaker have been replaced and the woofers have new surrounds installed. The grill cloth is a reproduction. The parts were supplied by Vintage AR and are correct, this is important in regards to the tone controls. I also replaced the crossover capacitors. The cabinet was redone with a hand rubbed oil finish. Interestingly one of the backs is a heavy particle board and the other plywood but... the serial numbers are about 3, 000 apart so they must straddle different production methods. There is the name of the original owner scratched into each back. The speakers perform very well, the sound is very nice with good separation. It seemed to me that they performed better in a larger room. I will also include the low profile angled speaker stands that one of the speakers is pictured with.
