RARE FIRST ISSUE BLACK "COLORED" FRANCIE DOLL
Includes RARE, VHTF Swimsuit Variation and Shoes
Up for sale is rare, first issue black Francie doll from 1967. She was called "Colored Francie." This Francie did not sell well originally, so fewer of theseblack Francie dolls were produced and arevery highly prized by collectors today. The first version -- like this one -- had rusty reddish shoulder length hair, rooted lashes, and light brown painted eyes.&nb...sp; The second version had dark brown hair and darker brown eyes. Both dolls have a twist and turn waist and bendable legs.
She displays very well. She has a beautiful face and her paint is really nice. Two plugs from the eyelashes on her left eye are a little shorter than the rest, and her hair is a little dry. She has three tiny pricks on her left leg by her knee, and her left leg is splayed at the hip. Both legs click loudly and hold in all three positions, and she has no chew marks on her feet. When I undressed her for her pictures I noticed a small split by her right shoulder, I had never noticed this before. I also had not noticed that her left leg was splayed until I undressed her.
Her swimsuit is a rare variation that is very hard to find. It is in nice condition; the colors are still vivid and both snaps are intact, but may have been restitched back into place.
