An excellent condition original 'Vorsatzfernrohr MG Zeileinrichtung' periscope attachment for the German MGZ34 optic sight. This optical instrument was designed & used in order to allow the gunner to get down and fire from a lower position when aiming in conjunction with a MG34/42 mounted on the heavy Lafette tripod (an extract from Folke Myrvang's "MG34 MG42 Universal MGs" (p.248) is included alongside the main item photos). The condition of the green paint still rates highly..., with minor age related wear. There is also the remains of a number inscription '1798' (pictured), which would most likely have been the serial number of the MG with which this periscope was used during the war. The optical condition of the periscope is excellent, producing a very clear image - an attempt to capture this in a photo is included. The locking screw also remains in full working condition.Overall, this is a great example of an extremely rare MG34/42 accessory, and one which would perfectly complete any MGZ34 optic!
