C. 1820 French Restauration Gold Gilt Medici Style Ormolu Mantle Urns Or Vases

From a prominent Charlotte, NC estate. An unbelievably stunning pair of French Bourbon Restoration period mantle urns. It is massively rare to find these pieces with a center casket made of beveled glass. Based on the quality and cut of the glass, it is definitely possible that these components were made by Baccarat. The craftsmanship of the ormolu designed scrolls and other details are amazing; from the greenman adorned handles, to the scrolls around the Medici... style urn, the columns supporting the glass panels, as well as the medallions affixed to the panels with the combination of an elaborate knob screw and notch set bore hole in the glass. Many pieces were cast individually and assembled rather than one or a few larger cast pieces. The base alone is multiple pieces assembled with 16 hand crafted set screws. The frames and column for the glass panels are multiple pieces as well. Many of the pieces are marked with some sort of tiny assembly codes; we captured a few of these in the photos. Also, on the underside of each piece, there is a hand etched number of 1903-47; however, we believe is is post production and is some sort of inventory mark by a previous owner. On one of the vessels, also on the underside, there is what looks to be an embossed mark in the metal; a figure that looks like an urn or a vase (see photos). Other than these marks, we could not locate any others. As far as condition, excellent and outstanding for age. Some patina variations in the gold; however, very minor and overall the gold is very strong and complete. There is one very shallow chip in one door glass panel on one piece and only on the beveled portion. Very insignificant and not readily visible (see last photo). The only other condition issue is a missing screw knob on one of the doors. The one that is present can be removed and used to open the other door with the missing knob. Plus the inside screws used to hold the various medallions on the glass sides is the same screw as the door knob. If you wish to use one of those, it is possible that a replacement for the medallion screw could be found and a variation used there would not be as obvious.
