This 2004 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish was sold originally in California and moved in 2011 to Massachusetts where it is now offered at NO RESERVE with an accident-free Carfax report. The exterior is finished in California Sage, Aston Martin's iconic metallic silver green shade. Now showing just 13, 500 miles, this 2+2 grand-tourer features the rare Sports Dynamic Package.
Principle changes over the standard Vanquish are to the chassis, wheels, and brakes. The aluminum front uprig...hts are made stronger and stiffer and include shorter springs with revised shocks which lower the ride height 5mm. A 20% quicker steering rack sharpens the steering feel. AP Racing six pot calipers replace pedestrian four pots, and the brake discs are increased to 378mm in diameter (up from 355) and feature a cool new elliptical groove pattern. AP calipers are also fitted at the rear, with 2mm thicker rotors. The SDP variant also features exclusive 9 spoke magnesium wheels that are 30% lighter than the original 12 spokes.
The Sports Dynamic Pack V12 Vanquish was only available for a few months before the similar but more powerful V12 Vanquish S replaced it in September 2004. It has been claimed by AML that only 94 examples were made, making this trim one of the rarest models in the V12 Vanquish range, with potential as a true collectible from the tail end of Aston's Newport Pagnell era.
Power is provided by a 5.9-liter DOHC V12 that produces what is still considered among the most explosive and musical exhaust notes of any supercar. This Vanquish was thoroughly looked over in May, 2019 by a dealer for any immediate needs, and subsequently freshened up with new rod ends, brake pads, brake fluid, spark plugs, and ignition coils. Michelin Pilot tires are fitted, with 95% wear still remaining.
The dashboard is wrapped in green leather, and the center console is finished in tan. Luxuriously plush sheep carpets line the footwells. Instrumentation includes a 210-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer. The stereo is a spectacular unit designed for Aston Martin by Linn, and features a massive subwoofer and amplifier in the trunk. Original first aid kit, owners manual, factory car cover, and factory battery tender are all included, as well as an oil filter, engine air filter, and spare accessory drive belt.
Early in it's life, this Vanquish was involved in a common manufacturer buyback to fix issues that many Vanquishes had with the automated clutch. A dealership in Texas upgraded the system from the early-style mechanical shift mechanism to the superior magnet activated version used on later Vanquish, which resolved the shifting problems. With the updated system, paddle shifting is an engaging activity and makes this machine a real pleasure to drive.
