Antique Hoosier Kitchen Cabinet - Glass Doors, Rolltop
Item History & Price
This classic American furniture piece is pretty and unusual, although we have seen a num...ber of similar types of kitchen cabinets from the time period.
The central section of the cabinet is a white-enameled counter top, behind which is a rolltop section.
The lower part of the cabinet has one large cabinet drawer on the left with a wide thin door above it, and three drawers on the right side.
The top section is detachable from the bottom for easy transportation.
The cabinet was originall painted a light blue. In around 1980 it was repainted an antiqued yellow, which is what can be seen in the current photos. We believe the vintage electrical socket at the top of the cabinet was added to the cabinet later, after it was originally purchased. The clock no longer works, but is still very beautiful as a decorative element, and it likely could be repaired.
All in all, this is a very beautiful piece of Americana -- a historical furniture piece that can easily be added to a kitchen to create a striking focal element that reminds everyone of the good old days and mother's home cooking. The antique cabinet can be used like a china cabinet and as extra storage space for china, dishes, flatware and tableware.
