BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE 19th c CHINESE CANTONESE 2- SIDED EMBROIDERED SILK PIANO SHAWL!Up for the auction is a beautiful antique from the late 19th century circa 1880's Chinese Cantonese double- sided embroidered woman's piano shawl with woven border and fringes.On a black color silk material densely embroidered in bright multi- colored silk threads using fine satin stitches.Features Chinese court ladies and gentlemen in a blooming garden with exotic birds and flowers.Extremely fine...ly worked piece- just look at the pictures!The shawl measures 65" (165 cm) x 62" (157.5 cm) plus about 21" (53.3 cm) woven border and fringes.CONDITION: fair antique condition with some damages: separation near the woven border due to fragility of the old heavily embroidered silk, repairs, couple of small holes to the body of the shawl, bleeding of the colors, and slight fading. Still, the shawl makes a beautiful display and is a highly desirable/ collectible piece!
