offeredis a fabulous and unusual late 1927 MSR "mastercraft" slidesnuffer arm petrol pocket cigar lighter in original box. the nickel silver plated 8 sidedlighter features an unusual slide snuffer mechanism with engine turned front and back designs. the double barrel slide snuffer moves back andforth to reveal the wick. please see german broesan book photo forbest comparison-[book has incorrect 1940 date]. the flying saucershape flint wheel sits atop the flint bar and i've not seen ano...thersimilar lighter mechanism. the slide snuffer "mastercraft"was invented by henry shapiro [see 2 sketch patent] and manufactured inprovidence rhode island by MSR who was M S Rodenberg. i have shown a copy of MSR instructions for informative purpose and not included in sale. the lighter measures about 1-3/4"tall x 1-3/4" wide and is in excellent tested only condition. there are also the tiniest typical storage age spots keeping lighter from being mint. the lighter has original owner initials. the mechanism is untested andshould work with proper service of fuel and flint but lighter is sold as a collectible. the lighter and box are all original and quite showy. overall - a rare andunusual art deco MSR "mastercraft" sideways slide snuffer arm lighter in box for thebest of collections. this model is the nicest art deco MSR i've seen in 40 years - looks better in person as photos show reflectionsinstructions - patent sketches and ad not included in saleonly lighter and box for salegerman book incorrectly dates msr and actual date is 1927lighter sold as a collectibleusa is signed for priority mail ship cost. overseas is priority airmail except the SHIP COST to italy-china-HK-eastern europe-russia-spain-greece-taiwan- via usps priority mail only-$40.
