First time offered on SeaGems is an absolutely outstanding, truly museum-quality specimen of the ultra-rare Middle Miocene Austrocypraea ampullacea (Tate, 1890) 34.3 mm, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. This large, delicate, superbly preserved piece is among the best examples ever offered of this species. Easily among the rarest of Austrocypraea species, a specimen of this size and quality (note in particular the crisply malleate sculpture, the perfect canals and the extraord...inary humped dorsum) only surfaces every few years. Handpicked from a prominent private collection, the future owner of this fossil will rest assured that there will be extremely few others like it in the world.
