For your consideration at this wonderful auction is a rare and vintage Apple Macintosh Color Classic with TAKKY upgrade from the 1990s, with an upgraded Logic Board containing a PowerPC 603e series processor clocked at 250Mhz speeds. These specifications have been maxed out with 128 Megabytes of RAM (using two 64MB memory modules), an internal spacious 146GB (Gigabyte) SCSI Hard Drive and a full installation of Mac OS 9.1 (the final Classic version supported by PowerPC Motorola based p...rocessors), making it more attractive and interesting to use. Logic board contains expansion connectors for an optional supported PCI card (7" maxinum), Apple Ethernet Card may be installed separately in the communications slot for AppleTalk and Network Connections, and the logic board features additional expansion slots for audio/video card upgrades, external video cards and cache memory slot for potential upgrades for a G3 processor. The existing 1.4MB internal floppy disk drive is present, however, it is an unsupported feature of the unit - and is assumed to be a non-functioning component of the computer.
The built-in vibrant Sony 9" Trinitron display supports millions of vibrant colors in crisp quality with the standard built-in upgrade 2MB of VRAM memory. The best part about this Color Classic Takky is the VGA upgrade performed on the display is unique and one-of-a-kind to properly display a resolution of 640x480. Only the 640x480 resolution with the 60hz refresh rate is permitted - other resolutions are unsupported and may damage the Color Classic graphics package. Apple Desktop Bus II Keyboard and Mouse II are included. System sounds and text-to-speech are delivered to external speakers (sold separately), and may be used in conjunction with a stereo line-out and auxiliary adapter (included). SCSI port allows connection to external hard disk drives, CD-ROM drives and peripherals; the serial ports allow connections to external Geoport or Serial modems and desktop printers. There is line-in and line-out connection for audio devices, such as plaintalk microphone (one microphone is included) and speaker systems. One 6' (six-foot) power cable is included.
A Twentieth Anniversary Mac logic board is installed (it is similar to the Power Macintosh 5500), however, the original Color Classic logic board and plastic panel cover are absent due the different design of the port layout and will not be included with this auction. CRT displays may show signs of age over the years during the first few minutes of startup, with small dark portions of the screen readjusting to full contrast, or partial burn-in, and this is considered normal for vintage computers.
Seller will ship USPS Priority Mail for domestic shipping throughout the United States. The equipment will be professionally packaged by the seller when shipped, however, international shipping and handling is also available throughout the world at additional cost specified here in the auction; Approximate weight of bundle for shipping is 40 pounds.I have years of experience packing Color Classics for shipment, and I insist on wrapping at least 6 to 12 inches of bubble-wrap around all 6 sides of the machine to minimize the potential for physical damage upon direct impact during handling. However, this unit is offered as-is, with no warranty, and any changes or additional modifications are not supported, as such actions are performed at your own risk. It is recommended to make a secondary back-up of the hard drive when using this machine for the first time. PRAM battery installed is subject to replacement due to time/settings reset. PRAM clock batteries will not ship in international shipments due to courier requirements.
