Description: I BUY SWORDS ANDWHOLE COLLECTIONS!CONTACTUS with any questions! 804 23 9 549 0Item Description:I am pleased to offer this original hand-made Japanese army officers Samuraisword from World War 2. The ...blade represents the opportunity to own a Koto katana, ca. 1500s, from the famous Kanemotoschool in high end Shin Gunto mounts with a family mon on the handle. The blade and the mountings are in Excellent condition. The swordhas a blade length of 24 inches (61 cm). The blade features a well-grained burlmokume hada that mixes with a straight masame along the edge. The hamon is an exceptional Mino-style SanBon Sugi gunome that is present the length of the blade ending in a jizo boshi with some streaking kaen. The hamon is filled with streaking sunagashi throughout its length. The tang is mumei, or unsigned. Based on the characteristic hamon and workmanship, this swordlooks to have been made by the famous Kanemotoschool of Mino. Kanemoto was oneof the most famous lines of swordsmiths in Japanese history. They worked in the1500s from Mino province and their swords were famous for their sharpness. Theywere highly sought out by samurai fighting during this time. This sword looks to be from a generation working in the mid to late 1500's. A shinsa should be consulted for identification of which specific generation of Kanemoto made this sword. The mountings are Type 98 ShinGunto and in Excellentcondition. The tsuka is silk-cord wrapped with cherry blossom menuki. There is littleto no fraying. The tsuka features a familymon of katabami, or oxalis, whichwas famous for use clans such as the Hayakawa. The tsuba is classic WW2 with four accompanying metal seppa. The saya(scabbard) is a green painted metal. It shows a few small dents and a few smallareas of missing finish, retaining roughly 95-97%original finish. The blade is in Excellentcondition. There are a couple very small micro nicks at the kissaki, a fewscattered small spots of rust, and a few small scratches along the blade’slength. There are no major flaws like hagire.Given the condition, the highquality craftsmanship, and history of the sword, I think this piece would be anoutstanding addition for a collectorof WW2 militaria or Japanese swords.Terms and additional items: This item is original and not aknockoff or fake.
