This very rare and beautiful, 1880’s Anishinaabe / Ojibwa Indian Bead Decorated Bandolier Bag is in very good condition and displays beautifully. The velvet fabric substrate is generally well preserved with some surface wear to the beaded panel above the opening of the Bag itself and with small and scattered spots of wear to the surface of the shoulder strap. The bead decoration is stunningly beautiful and generally well preserved with minor bead loss to the decoration on the front panel of the Bag and on the panel above the Bag opening. There is some loss to the clear translucent beads on the shoulder strap and while 5 of the beaded panel drops are in excellent condition, one has damage to the beaded panel itself and three others have loss to the thread and read wool strand tassels (again see the scans below). All elements of the Bag are original and there has been other no repairs or restorations – it is 100% original and stunningly beautiful.
