This wonderful, Sioux Indian Tepee Bag is sinew sewn by hand with beadwork decoration featuring Charlotte cut steel and red white heart, chalk ...white, pea green, cobalt and greasy yellow colored trade beads. The Bag features rawhide drops at the sides with tin cones and yellow dyed horsehair tassels and retains its original, rawhide ties at the top edge.
The Tipi Bag offered here is unconditionally guaranteed original and of the period. It is NOT a reproduction or modern recreation but an original Sioux Tipi / Possible Bag crafted in the third quarter of the 19th century. The Bag comes with our “no questions asked” return privilege and our lifetime guarantee of authenticity. It is guaranteed to be deemed authentic, original and as described by any qualified third party authentication service.
This very rare and stunningly beautiful, ca1890’s Sioux Bead Decorated Hide Tipi Bag is in very good condition. All of the hide elements are well preserved and sound – slightly stiff but supple with no damage or repairs of any kind. There is age appropriate light wear and light soiling to the hide surfaces but no damage other than minor surface scuffs. The beadwork is exceptionally beautiful and well preserved with no loss, damage or repairs of any kind. The original rawhide closure ties are present and sound. Of the 32 tin cone and dyed horse hair drops that trim the sides of the Bag, two drops are missing completely and two retain the tin cones but lack the dyed horse hair. Otherwise this stunningly beautiful, late 19th century Sioux Teepee bag is exceptionally well preserved and among the finest Native American Indian Artifiats that we have had the pleasure to offer over the past 39+ years!!
All elements of the Teepee Bag are original and there has been no repairs or restorations - this wonderful Bead Decorated Bag is 100% original and 100% beautiful.
