Original Description:
Herein represents someones life's work:
This is a huge trove of gunsmithing equipment, tools, and a very rare pair of Gerstner Walnut Gunsmith's Cabinets.
I acquired this from a retired gunsmith, who acquired it from a retired gunsmith, who acquired it from a retired gunsmith. I believe that each gunsmith added more to the collection. I was told that the original owner was a gunsmith for two companies called Von Langerke and Abercrombie & Fitch.
I'll try to sum...marize what I see contained in the cabinet as best I can. I believe nearly all the equipment inside was made in the USA or other first-world nations but there may be a possibility of some item being made elsewhere.
The Gunsmith Tools:
Gunsmith's Bench Block - Marked 1968 on the bottom. Many Screwdrivers (around 30?) - Most circa 1940-1960. Many have wood handles.Lots of gunsmith's drifts and punches in all sizes.Cleaning / small parts picks and tweezers.3 ratchet slotted turnscrews and a weird nipper/jawed thing.A brass and rosewood shotgun choke gauge.A clamp or vise of some sort.Antique British/European shotgun mop/brush.Little containers of screws and allen keys.Antique horn pocket knife.

The Gunsmith Parts:
A few bolt handles.A bag or two of screws and sling studs.A drawer full of various trigger assemblies.A mauser side safety shroud.A trigger guard and trigger.3 recoil pads / plates. Vintage pachmayr. Horn plate. and A composite one.Mounts, rings, and screws. Some marked redfield and weaver.Walnut forend for some sort of antique pump gun.A barrel marked "Remington Model 12C"Leather straps / handle for best quality gun cases that appear antique.Felt cloth for gun case linings.Cleaning Patches.Leupold scope cloth.
Several vintage drawings/prints of antique gun stuff. Two books on guns.
About the case:
The case/box is two pieces. I'm told that Gerstner was the best gunsmith boxes you could buy. The inside of the case lid has three maker's labels that say: "Ugartechea, Atkin Grant, and Westley Richards". There are many dings and scuffs on it and the felt linings are in need of a cleaning. Cracks on the case exist but everything works. According to eBay and Gerstner of Ohio, the cases are fairly rare models that were made in Walnut, not the more common oak. I believe the top one is called a w52 (not positive) and the bottom one I don't know the model. The dimensions are roughly 26"-27" wide. The top chest has 11 drawers. The bottom chest has 7 drawers. Similar boxes are on eBay for $1000-$3000 per piece so feel free to compare. I just spent $50 and ordered the correct vintage keys for the cabinet from Gerstner and according to them, I bought the last key they have for one of the two locks.
The bottom line:
I have several thousand dollars wrapped up into this gunsmith collection and would just like to recover some of that. When you look at the value of a quality gunsmithing tool at around $20 each, and all the triggers/rings/mounts/shrouds/barrels having a value of $10-$150 a piece, and all the other stuff mentioned, it adds up pretty quick. Full oak (not walnut) machinists chests on eBay with their tools are up for around $5000 so I'm going to assume gunsmithing equipment and a walnut set of Gerstner chests should be worth a similar amount. I've discounted this to sell in time for someone's Christmas. This is perfect for an armorer or apprentice gunsmith that wants traditional tools of the trade instead of modern junk. Feel free to make a reasonable offer.
Shipping to the lower-48 States. Shipping will be in 2-3 separate boxes to keep costs down. (we do not want oversize/overweight surcharges) Local pickup permitted at no charge. If you believe I've made an error in my descriptions let me know and I'll update the auction. Pictures are what you should rely upon as I did my best to describe.
