Jim Thorpe - Canton Bulldogs - Type 1 Press Photo - with Brickley of Massillon. Writing on the back of photo reads - "Jim Thorpe shaking hands with Chas Brickley before start of the game between the bulldogs of Canton, and the Tigers of Massillon - for the U.S. professional title. 1917. Back of the photo is stamped International New Photos. I believe this to be a vintage, period photo.Photos has several creases and bends throughout. There is a 1/2" tear on bottom edge. ...; Also, a 1/2" tear on left border. Major corner wear, especially on lower left. Small nick out of left border. This photo comes from the personal collection of baseball player/ Chicago Bears player/ and Hollywood actor Pat Flaherty. Please check out more items from his estate, including more Thorpe photos. A fellow Ebay member has informed me that this is not a Type 1, but a Type 4 photo. It was developed off a duplicate negative and reprinted 30-40 years after the photo was taken. They also said that the stamp on the reverse is a 1950's stamp. Type 1 refers to a photo off the original negative and developed within 2 years from which the photo was taken. Please look at photos, and decide for yourself. You can always return the photograph, if you are not completely satisfied.
