WHA Ticket Stub Jets Vs Racers Oct. 29, 1978 GRETZKY ' S LAST GAME
Item History & Price
Wayne Gretzky's first professional team was the Indianapolis Racers of the World Hockey Association in the 1978/79 season. He only played a total of 8 games with the Racers before being moved to the Edmonton Oilers.
Ticket stubs from any of those 8 games are nearly impossible to find. Unused ones are much, much harder than that. They just don't exist.
Imagine owning an unused stub from the last game that Gretzky played... with the Racers. This is close to the Holy Grail of Gretzky ticket stubs.
I was a season ticket holder for the Winnipeg Jets from 1976 until the end of their first season in the NHL. I worked nights at the time and could only go to the Friday, Saturday and Sunday games. If I couldn't go and couldn't sell my ticket, I just kept it. All of them. About 45 in total. All mint and all unused.
This is the first one that I am going to part with. The rest will go up eventually. There are many other significant ones, including Mark Messier's first professional game as a Racer. Message me if you're looking for a specific game and I'll see if I have it.
I also have tickets for a number of "phantom games". Games that were either rescheduled or dropped entirely because a franchise folded. These are likely the rarest of all tickets because there would have been no box office sales, only season ticket holder sales.
Sorry about the shipping costs, but the shipment will need to be insured. It's pricey.
