Up for auction is a 1917-1918 Spalding Official National League Baseball. This baseball has black and red stitching and does not have the president John Tener's facsimile signature on the side panel, but it does have 116 stitches. Also the words "Cork" and "Center" are on both sides of Official and the Spalding logo has the wide stitch rather than the tight one (please see photos for better detail). Since I am not a professional grader or authority if I am wrong on th...ese various factors that make up the date of this ball, please let me know. The condition as you can see is considered Very Good with some minor wear and age discoloration. This baseball was acquired from a person who lived in Sedalia, Mo. many years ago. It was signed by the mayor "J. C. Babcock" of Sedalia, Mo. I looked online for the mayors of Sedalia, Mo. and he ended up being elected 4 times. Several of those times correspond with the age of this ball. It is a piece of baseball history that has had many stories made with it. Starting bid is $150.00
